The real paddock to plate.
Regenerative agricultural techniques in the spectacular
NE Highlands - West Pyengana.
How it all started.
Pyengana Premium Meats is a 5th generation family farm enterprise. Farming in the lush green Pyengana valley since 1887, we have a strong connection to our land and community. We strive to provide high quality affordable tasty lamb and beef to our local community. Our product can be delivered to your home throughout the North East of Tasmania as well as Launceston and surrounds.
We farm using regenerative agricultural techniques. This involves nurturing our soils to have high biological and microbial life to produce nutritious
multi-species pastures for our stock to graze. Why is this important? It means that the meat produced is nutrient dense and good for you.
Our family of 5, Ged, Tara and 3 sons, Darcy, Rodney and Reuben, all work together caring for our soil and stock. We also process and butcher in our own on-farm facility.
Operating our licensed meat works since 2009, we truly are paddock to plate.
Our calves are born, in our high country on “Forest Lodge” in West Pyengana. Here our herd of black angus cows live with views of the mountains and rear their calves until autumn weaning.
We also have a herd of Murray Grey Cows that live on our smaller high country blocks “Puddin Top” and “Clover Top”
Once weaned the young stock are then grown out on our home farm “Skane”, in the lush Pyengana Valley.
“Skane” is also where our flock of Corriedale ewes are joined with White Suffolk rams to produce tasty lambs.
Working in conjunction to finish the livestock is Darcy on his patch of paradise “Bromolla” on St Columba Falls Rd.
Our stock are processed right here on our farm, this ensures that our animals are always cared for and treated humanely.
Another advantage is that the stock, do not have to travel long distances in trucks to noisy sale yards, they have a stress free life from start to finish. Which equates to tender high quality meat for your family to enjoy.
Where possible we prefer to use our horses for stockwork, life is best lived in the saddle.
